Give me just one more
Summer day, warm breeze on my face
Chance to run the beaches, chance to be alive
Eat s’mores and watch fireworks, embrace the freedom

I don’t want to transition, move to fall
School life, restriction, holding me in
Feel my summer warmth chilled away
As the leaves depart the trees

Fall into winter, bland world of white
So, so, so cold, shivering my nights away &
Shoveling past frustrations to get to my car
Must escape this winter wonder-hell

Leaping into spring
Better, but still not what I seek
Bright and wet, so muddy, so messy
Splashing through puddles with bone-soaked feet

Just give me my summer.
My warm, lovely, bright, sunny summer
One more summer day is all I ask
